Theses
/intel?view=thesesWhat it answers
The desk's register of calls — each thesis is either a trade on traditional markets or a Polymarket bet, with its entry, its target, its current state, and a full map of what supports it and what could break it. A Market thesis reads two ways: as a bet you can replicate on Polymarket, or as a position on the underlying environment — betting NO on "Iran hands over its uranium by May 31" is a way of saying the war isn't over, and that conviction runs through how you read the rest of the workspace.
Hawkline gives you research-backed trade ideas and convictions, not a portfolio to copy. You decide how much to risk, and when to act.
When to open it
- You've read a brief or spotted a convergence zone and you're after the trade that follows: filter by MARKET for convictions backed by a Polymarket market, by TRADE for directional calls on an asset.
- To test your own conviction: "Supports the call" and "Cuts against" are laid out flat — you see immediately what is known, and where the argument can break.
- On a closed thesis, to understand how it played out — the closure note and the log give you the desk's read day by day.
Anatomy
Three screens. The top strip restates the state of the register (open, closed, markets/trades filter) and the last update. The list sits below, grouped in two sections — first the Markets theses (backed by a Polymarket market: replicable, but read first as a conviction about the environment), then the Trades theses (directional calls). Each row is a card summarizing the position. A click opens the detail page: chart, state of play in figures, the analyst's memo, the evidence ledger, what would change the view, and the log.
How to read it
The top strip
| Element | How to read it |
|---|---|
As of … | The register's last update. The "state of play" blocks on the cards can be more recent — they refresh on every open. |
| Open / Closed | Counters that ignore the filter: what the whole register holds, not just your selection. |
| Markets / Trades | Filters the full register by call type. |
The header filters
| Element | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Domain pill | All domains, Geopolitics, Macro, Commodities, FX, Equities, Crypto, Rates, Military. One at a time. |
| Both / Market / Trade | Call type. Market = a Polymarket thesis, Trade = a directional call on an asset. |
| Open / Closed / All | State. By default the register opens with every position shown. |
A thesis card
A header, a title — the question in one line — a body that depends on the type, and a footer summarizing the material available.
| Element | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Colored dot | The call's risk. Green = low, amber = medium, red = high. |
| OPEN / CLOSED | Status. A closed thesis no longer moves; its content is frozen and stands as a permanent track record. |
| Eyebrow | Type (market / trade), domain, call structure (hold, target, or resolution · expects YES / NO), direction (long / short on a trade), risk level, and the open or close date followed by the horizon in days. |
| Title | The question as the desk wrote it. On Markets it is usually the literal Polymarket question; on Trades it is the desk's own phrasing. |
| Horizon reached banner | Appears on a thesis still open that has run past its horizon without hitting the target. Treat it as an editorial signal — the desk has to decide between closing, extending, or letting it run. |
The body of a Trade thesis
| Element | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Left block | Asset name and direction (LONG / SHORT), current price large, and a line underneath with entry and a signed target. On a hold call there is no target — just the holding period. |
| Sparkline | The price's recent path, tinted by whether the call is winning or losing. The entry and target levels are drawn as dashed lines. |
| Progress bar | Mapped to the same scale for every position: −100% on the left, ENTRY at one quarter, TARGET at three quarters, +200% on the right. The marker shows where the price sits on that axis today. |
The body of a Market thesis
| Element | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Left block | POLYMARKET, the current probability large (or the entry probability if there's no live tick yet), then entry N% and either target N% (the probability the desk is aiming at) or Expects YES / Expects NO (a resolution call: the desk bets on the outcome, not on a level). |
| Probability gauge | A horizontal 0%–100% band. Three ticks: Entry, Now, Target (the Hawkline view). The Entry → Now portion is colored to the outcome — green if the market is moving with the call, red if against. The Now → Target portion stays a pale dash: that's what is left to price. |
| Sparkline | The probability's path, same color code. |
| Resolved YES / Resolved NO banner | Only appears once the Polymarket market has settled. The banner's color tells you whether the resolution confirmed the call. |
The state chip — the card's center of gravity
To the right of the body, a stacked block condensing the current verdict. Three lines: an arrow ▲ ▼ ◆ followed by the raw move since entry (sign included), a state label, and a detail line.
Important, on the sign. The raw move is the one you read on the chart, with no correction for direction. A short winning 5% on a falling price shows −5.00% — but the chip stays green and reads WINNING. Color and label follow the call's direction; the number follows the price.
| Pill (open) | How to read it |
|---|---|
| WINNING | The market is moving with the call. On a target trade, the progress bar sits above the neutral zone. On a market, the edge on the probability is clear. |
| LOSING | The market is moving against the call. Same logic, sign reversed. |
| FLAT | The move since entry sits inside the neutral zone — too small to call it a gain or a loss. |
| PENDING | No usable live data yet. On a Trade, the first bar is still awaited; on a Market, the first tick. The chip is dashed. |
| Pill (closed) | How to read it |
|---|---|
| ✓ WON | The call paid. On a target trade, the target was hit or passed; on a market with a resolution, the expected outcome landed. |
| ✗ LOST | The call went against. Target missed with an adverse move, or a resolution opposite to what was expected. |
| – INCONCLUSIVE | Closed with no clear direction — for instance, horizon elapsed on a near-zero move. |
The detail line varies: N% to target on a target trade, Convergence X% → Y% on a Polymarket fade, Expects YES on a resolution, Resolved YES / Resolved NO once settled.
The card footer
N+ / N− evidence · N watch · N log — the material available to go further. + counts the pieces supporting the call, − those cutting against it. Open chart ↓ tells you the click opens the detail page.
The detail page
Opens full screen, and is reachable by direct URL through the ?thesis=… parameter — useful for sharing one specific call.
| Block | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Header | ← All theses to go back, status, type (Trade thesis / Market thesis), domain, last update date, then the question, large. |
| Opened / Confidence / Risk band | Open date and horizon, the desk's confidence (a percentage figure doubled by a ten-cell bar), risk level (chevrons), and on a trade, direction and asset. Flags of the countries involved on the right. |
| Closure note | Only appears at close: the desk's final note, and what took the position off. |
Workbench — chart + state of play
| Block | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Chart title | Price · ASSET on a Trade, Implied probability · Polymarket on a Market. |
| Range selector | 1H, 1D, 14D, 30D, 60D, 120D. Trades only have daily candles — 1H and 1D are hidden. |
| Chart legend | The main trace (daily close or implied probability), a dashed Entry, and a dashed Target (Trade) or Hawkline view (Market target). |
| State of play — Trade | Last price and the move since entry, then three cells: Entry (price and date), Target (price and the signed move expected), Progress (how far along, doubled by a lowercase hint — on track, target met, exceeded, reversed, elapsed), and Time left (a countdown on the horizon). On a hold call, Holding in days instead. |
| State of play — Market with a target | Market now and the move in pp since entry. Cells: Hawkline (the probability aimed at, with a we say more likely / we say less likely / matches market hint), Edge captured (X / Y pp — how much of the Entry→Hawkline gap has already been realized, with realizing / eroding / flat), At entry (opening probability and the total size of the gap), then Time left or Resolved. |
| State of play — Market with a resolution | Market now, At entry, Expected YES or NO, and Time left or Resolved. |
The Call — analyst memo
A prose block with a rule down its side: the desk's memo. It isn't a summary; it's the formulation the rest of the argument answers to.
The research panel
Three tabs, each with a counter. Only non-empty tabs are shown.
| Tab | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Evidence ledger | Two columns. Supports the call gathers the favorable exhibits, Cuts against the contrary ones, each with its own exhibit count. Every row is numbered in ledger order, sourced (POLYMARKET, NEWS, GDELT TENSIONS, …) and timestamped to the date of the fact it reports. Click to unfold an exhibit; the full claim appears. The material is deliberately laid flat — you see everything, including what contradicts the call. |
| What would change this view | The forward-looking list: thresholds, dated catalysts, the invalidation level. Nothing in it has happened yet — that's what separates it from the evidence ledger, where every entry carries a timestamp. It's also the only list you can mark after the fact, and it ships as-is to the public track record. |
| Log | A dated timeline. Each entry is what the desk noted that day — a repricing, a catalyst that landed, an adjustment to the read. The log runs to the close on closed positions, and stays current on open ones. |
The detail page footer

Cross-check with other Hawkline features
- A Market thesis you want to dig into: Markets opens the full Polymarket flow (top movers, related markets, whale tape) — useful for checking whether the call lines up with recent smart-money or not.
- A Trade thesis on an asset you follow: Trend matrix places the asset in its regime, and gives the factor-by-factor read (macro, positioning, risk, flow).
- On a settled Market thesis,
Open on Polymarket ↗at the foot of the detail page opens the original market.
Keep in mind
- Horizon reached does not close the position. The banner says the originally expected window has elapsed. The thesis stays open until a closure has been written — a position running past its horizon without being closed does happen.
- A Market
targetcall can overshoot the target. Edge captured then passes 100% — the position has over-shot, which is still a gain for the call. - The evidence ledger grows; it doesn't get rewritten. A published exhibit stays exactly as written — the desk doesn't reword it and doesn't pull it. What the desk does do is add to it over the life of the position, in both columns: a closed thesis can carry exhibits dated well after it opened. It isn't a photograph of the open, it's the case as it accumulated.
- An exhibit's timestamp is the date of the fact it reports, not the date it was added to the ledger. So an exhibit filed mid-position can carry a date earlier than the open, and the numbering follows ledger order rather than chronology. To read an older thesis: the
Evidence ledgergives you the accumulated case, theLoggives you the desk's dated commentary on what moved.
